Introducing our next ambassador, @just_another_house_reno, we caught up with Kate to find out a bit more about her....
I started my Instagram account in July 2020 which was the same week we moved into our house. I knew that if I kept a photo log of our progress it would spur us on to look at during the harder moments. I am so glad that we did, as before and after home transformation photos are my absolute favourites!
When we moved into our home last summer and I remember that I kept going on the Shabby website and snapshotting items that I loved so that when each room was completed I would be so excited to get my lovely ginger jars out and accessorise the room.
For me, it changes from season to season, in the summer I’ve loved having the bi folds open and the whole outdoor living with the kitchen diner to the bbq/patio area. With winter around the corner, I’m really excited to get the blankets out, fire on and watch some movies in the living room as a family. Oh and dare I say it, get the Christmas tree up too!
I love all my items but I think my White Ginger Jar which was the first thing I ordered. I have styled it with some eucalyptus and hydrangea stems and it’s a real focal point in the kitchen area that I just love to look at. It’s simple but elegant in my opinion.
I would describe my style as fairly traditional, certainly grey and whites are highly featured and definitely my go- to safety net. I love floral displays and accessories so much and that’s what draws me to the Shabby website.
I love Shabby’s huge range of items. Neutral colours really appeal to me so the greys, whites, silvers and golds are just my taste and compliment my home perfectly. I love how clear and easy the website is to order from and how quickly my items arrive.
I have actually just started painting my oldest son’s bedroom navy which is actually out of my comfort zone but it’s actually really refreshing to enjoy another palette in the home. Perhaps it will encourage me to becomes braver with our colours in the future.
I do accessorise differently from season to season. With the autumnal vibes, I tend to steer some orange and rust tones in to floral displays and candles. Christmas time for me is always about the metallics and clear glass decorations, tonnes of candles and a sprinkle of glam…it just has to be done! Spring and summer for me always make me go for the fresh blooms and hints of green.
Essentially it really needed it! We have literally done everything. From new boilers and electrics to knocking down walls, flipping staircases, new kitchen and bathrooms. I have really enjoyed the process although there have of course been stressful moments and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Just don’t tell my husband…
My top tip is to try not to follow trends too much and go for items that are pleasing to you. It is your home after all and I think it is really important that your home is essentially a reflection of you!
